Many of us have a love hate relationship with our college alumni associations. On the one hand, they keep us in touch with our college community. On the other hand, their continual pleas for money can become a bit exasperating. You might have found yourself in charge somehow of running your college reunion, so here are three things that can help you out.
1. College reunion themes
Hopefully, you have already assembled a committee to help you figure out a lot of the details. If you are running low on suggestions, though, tropical island themes are always popular and an easy way to add bright color to your gathering. Other options include having it mascot themed, a Then and Now theme, or a movie theme… just bring in the rented popcorn maker and you have a hit!
2. College reunion jokes
Have a few jokes up your sleeve for when someone needs a little extra time to get ready, and you need to fill the silence. One joke that usually gets people laughing is reading off a list of ways you know you have all grown up. Examples include getting excited about gifts of dress socks, and hearing your favorite songs play in elevators. Also, keep in mind that outdated jokes can be funny on this occasion! Look through yearbooks to remember what everything thought was hilarious back when.
3. College reunion invitations
There are hundreds of example and template invitations you can find online to send to other college alumni. The important thing is not which template you choose, but what information you need to remember to include. You need to tell people when to meet, where, how much coming will cost, and most importantly, by when and where to RSVP. Make things easier by giving people the option to email or text their information. Send invitations by mail, but also consider using college websites, Facebook, email, and other avenues in order to get people on board.
